Twelve castles in England and Scotland you can actually sleep in
Britain has thousands of castles and lets you walk through most of them between ten and five. These twelve give you the key, the dinner and the morning after — six in England, six in Scotland, all open and taking bookings for two nights or more.
They’re ordered by price, and the first three come in under $250 a night. This is not the luxury-only list people expect.
If any of these castles interest you, the agents at Dynamic Travel can get you booked not only at the castle (assuming it has availability) but also your rental car and a complete custom tour of England and Scotland. Just call them at 800 766-2911 or email stevec@dynamictravel.com.

Book the building, not the postcode
The same trap runs through this list. Langley has nine bedrooms inside the castle and the rest in the grounds. Dornoch has nine in the castle and twelve in a modern extension. Crossbasket has lodges; Culzean has six rooms and no more. The rate an online engine hands you is very often the one that isn’t in the castle at all — and at Dalhousie and Thornbury there are winter closures that don’t always show up before you’ve paid.
We hold the direct relationships, we know which room number puts you behind the old walls, and through our consortia we can often add breakfast, a dinner credit or an upgrade at no extra cost. Tell us your dates and how many nights you want inside.
